Insurance Information

Prices start at $2.00 for up to $50.00 in products, $2.50 up to $100 in products and anything over $100 subtotal we will add on mandatory insurance unless you write to us requesting that you do not want it.  Orders over $200 without the need of a cooler pack will ship via Fed Ex 3 day Express Saver Insured.  Orders over $200 with the need of a cooler pack will ship via Fed Ex 2 Day Insured.  Any order with chocolates going to a destination of over 90 degrees should be shipped via Fed Ex Overnight Insured regardless of subtotal price, but you must ask us to upgrade.  You do not need to ask for insurance for Fed Ex and Express Mail as they are automatically insured for up to $100, anything over will be added in the shipping price.  Fed Ex and the USPS will not insure for melted chocolate or candy shipments.  Your order may only be insured for breakage or loss.

Insurance:  Please request insurance for your Priority Mail package if you want reimbursement for anything that may break during shipping.  We cannot refund your item/s if you did not ask for insurance.  The incident rate of something happening is extremely low and your items will be packed well and in perfect condition before they leave our warehouse.  If you do not have insurance and the post office loses your package after we have proof of shipping, we cannot replace your order.  Please file a personal claim with the post office.  If your package is insured, insurance will not cover melted chocolate, only if it is broken.  Insurance claims with US Post office are difficult to deal with and take approximately 40 days for the claim process, so we have the details and restrictions below.  We use the post office to deliver because it only takes a couple of days to arrive once we ship and we do have very good success rates with packages arriving in fine condition.  If you want an easy claim because you think you might have problems or your package is fragile or extra important to you, use Fed Ex as your delivery choice.  Insurance does not cover the cost of delivering your package for US Express and Priority Mail, only Fed Ex.  We will not reimburse shipping costs on insured packages for US Express and Priority Mail.  All packages have signature releases, signatures are not required, you must ask for and pay for if you require a signature.

Making a Claim:  You must email your request for claim and explain what happened to the package and contents within 48 hours of receipt.  Please do not call with your claim.  Digital photos of damage to contents and box must be submitted.  All damage must be shown in photos, not just part.  You must keep your package for 30-180 days with US Express Mail/Priority Mail and 14-30 days with any Fed Ex shipment.  Claims will be processed as quickly as possible, but may not be settled for minimum of 1 month to a maximum of 3 months for US Express Mail and Priority Mail.  Fed Ex settles much quicker and we may settle as soon as 15 days after the claim has been submitted.  If you want insurance on a package and you don't want any claims hassles, we suggest you use Fed Ex for your shipping.  If you need a replacement for an insured parcel or product, we will email instructions if the claim is valid or if you may keep the damaged item/s for carrier inspection or if you need to send it back to us.  We do not cover reshipping products with US Express and Priority Mail.  You will be responsible for the shipping charges.  If you do not want a reshipment, we will reimburse you for the products damaged or lost, but not on shipping charges or cooler packs.  If you paid by money order, you will receive a store credit.  If your package was delivered, but you say it was not delivered to you, you must contact the postmaster of your local post office immediately so that they can handle it from their end and talk with your carrier.  In most cases, the insurance company will not pay for the claim if we have delivery proof.  If you want a signature confirmation, you must ask for it as well and it is an additional 2.50 for Fed Ex and 2.00 for USPS Priority Mail.  We will not be responsible for packages that show they have been delivered in the tracking system either with or without insurance.  Be sure to ask a neighbor/concierge/manager if they took the package in for your or if the carrier left it behind your gate, backyard, etc.

Policy Note Our carriers will not insure chocolate or candy (perishable goods) if your items are melted.  Please try to be available to receive your chocolates when they're delivered.  Consider having them delivered to work, instead of waiting for you on your front porch where it might be warm.  If you typically get a delivery later in the day with the carrier, please have the package delivered where you know the carrier delivers earlier in the day or consider using guaranteed delivery such as Fed Ex 2 day or overnight..  We will ship discreetly with LLK, Inc. as the return address.  We deliver to P.O. boxes for USPS Priority & Express mail deliveries only.  Please call or email us if you have any questions.  Returns & Policies  **See below for more info on shipping chocolates.

Defective Items:  Please contact us first for return shipping instructions and to receive a return authorization number (RA#).  We will exchange the defective item with the exact same replacement and ship it back to you via ground services once we have received your authorized return.  The same policy stands for items shipped as a gift.  Either you or the gift recipient may make arrangements for replacement.  You must request insurance for Priority Mail shipments if you are to make any damage claim.  Perishable items cannot be insured by any carrier.  Please do not ship your package back to us with postage due or refuse a late Fed Ex shipment.  Postage due packages will be refused and Fed Ex refusal shipments will incur a $12 fee billed to you and the actual cost of shipping.  If your item/s arrive damaged from shipping, they cannot be returned or replaced unless you purchased insurance.

Carrier Shipped Late:  We cannot issue a refund for merchandise if your order arrives late by any carrier, even Fed Ex, so please order with plenty of time to spare for replacement or a delivery failure.  If you were not available to sign for a scheduled delivery, this does not constitute a late delivery.  Please be available to sign for your package or have it delivered to someone or some place that it may be signed for.  These shipping policies cover anything that is drop shipped to you from our distributors as well.  If Fed Ex was negligent in shipping, we will try to make a claim and refund the shipping, but we do not guarantee this.  If Fed Ex is late delivering your chocolates and they arrive melted, please follow the claim procedure above and we will more than likely be able to have your entire shipment and shipping costs refunded.  If we made a Fed Ex label shipping error, we will refund the express shipping cost minus the standard shipping fee.  Carriers cannot help the fact that severe weather or natural disasters happen and we do not make claims on such late packages.

**Please note for molded chocolate ordersOur chocolates are made fresh to order, they are not stocked.  Please consider that this takes a little extra time.  We especially need a few extra days during holidays.  Large and custom orders can take up to a week or more to process.  Please call or email us if you have a deadline.  If you need a small order really fast, order by Fed Ex.  The Fed Ex shipping price includes a rush delivery charge.  Cooler packs are mandatory during warm weather months.  The cooler box is reusable and the ice pack is a new/unused water bottle that has been frozen.  We use water bottles because the ice is more dense than a gel or ice pack and lasts longer.  We do not use dry ice.  Go to our shipping page for shipping cost estimates.  If the temperature is 90+ degrees, you must order via Fed Ex overnight.  You will receive an email order confirmation with these charges.  You must be able to sign or receive your package in person for any shipping method.  Consider having it mailed to a friend, neighbor or your work if you will not be at home.  It is a very bad idea to have chocolates shipped to you in warm weather if your regularly scheduled mail delivery is late in the day.  See our Policy page, the link is to the right.  Keep your package in a cool place, 75 F or lower.  Do not refrigerate unless your chocolates seem a little warm, and only for a few minutes until set.  For more information on storing your chocolates, click here If your package is insured, insurance will not cover melting, insurance only covers broken chocolates.  If your chocolates are eligible for replacement, we do not cover reshipping charges.  We will replace insured shipments with product, but you must pay for shipping and cooler pack.  We will credit your account for the broken chocolates if you do not want a replacement shipment.  If your order is really important and the weather is warm, have your order shipped Fed Ex overnight.
